RVIA certification

Since we have opened our doors I have focused on becoming RVIA certified, to benefit our customers and product. There are lots of rumors and myths pertaining to RVIA certification, but I would like to clear up the biggest one. It is not a Requirement, you do not need it to get a loan, to travel with your RV, or get insurance. It is a code certification group we as builders decide we want to be involved with, and yes there are other certification companies out there that are very good companies. Some Parks, or certain places can decide if they want to require a particular certification company, and  turn away other certifications. That is their right just like it is your right to decide to stay at that park, keep in mind the owner of that RV park has insurance and it may not cover RV’s that are not certified. RVIA is the most widely know and recognized certification company, and we at Tiny Idahomes wanted the to be able to give our customers the same rights as any RV owner has, be able to stay at any RV park that any other RV owner can. We have been trying to prove that our Tiny Idahomes product is no different than any other RV that is going down the highway, and have been pursuing this certification for the past 9 months. Well we are happy to announce that we are now RVIA certified and can certify our products we sell to the general public. Thank you to everyone for your support and we look forward to making our customers dreams come true for years to come.

Betty’s “Little Shack out Back”

Betty came to us wanting to build a vision of a tiny house she had.  She was looking for a “Refined Rustic Cottage” look and had very great  ideas on how she wanted everything to look.  We took all her ideas and drawings and brought them to life.  Building this and working with Betty was a pure delight.

Betty decided on the 24″ Cascade model as she was looking for a tiny house without lofts.  She used the design of her floor plan to put more of an emphasis on space separation to go along with the cottage feel she was looking for.

Thank you Betty for choosing us to build your refined rustic cottage for you!  We just can’t wait to see all the décor ideas you have.  ENJOY!

Are You Ready for a Tiny Home?

Tiny Homes, or living tiny, is a huge movement taking place right now!  Coast to coast people are rethinking what is important to them and deciding to change the way they live.  You may have heard about this, read about this or maybe have seen programs on TV about it.  You may have even wondered if living in a Tiny Home is for you!?  We are here to help in that process.
We have compiled a list of things to think about and also reasons why others have decided to make this extraordinary life change:
1.  Are you looking to build a home with a foundation or do you want a house on wheels?
2.  Do you want the freedom to have your home move with you instead of having to sell and look for a                         new place to live?  RVIA certified Tiny Homes give you the freedom you move and travel with your home.  These Tiny Homes are built to RVIA standards that allow you to tow it and park it in an RV park or on private property (depending on the city codes where you live)
3.  Is saving money something you want to achieve?  Like most of us we would all like to save more money.  Living in a Tiny RV Home can help with that!  Financial freedom is one of the reasons for the growing popularity of Tiny Homes.  They have a significant lower price tag than an average home and the monthly costs associated with them.  Studies have shown that tiny home owners have a higher than average savings compared to large homeowners
4.  Do you want to reduce your “carbon footprint” on the planet?  If you answered yes then living “Tiny” may be the perfect solution for you by reducing the amount of natural resources you need to live.
5.  Are you looking to downsize?  Living “Tiny” requires you to rethink the relationship you have with “stuff”.  With limited space for storage, people really take a good look at what they really need and really use in everyday life.
6.  Are you concerned with the smaller square footage compared to a regular home?  Tiny Home owners would encourage you to take a good look around you every day and the actual space you use.  You would be surprised about what little square footage you use.
At Tiny Idahomes we are here to help you every step of the way!  We want your experience to be the best that it can be.  Whether you are looking for a total custom floor plan or want some ideas from our base models, let us be there to guide you through this life changing process.

Not so tiny tiny house

Lately we had a lot of people asking us about what can we offer in terms of a bigger tiny house model. One of our biggest models is our Carpathian model. It is 35′ long goose neck and it comes with 3 slide outs – about 350 sq ft. Very nice and roomy tiny house. Offers a lot of space and one family should have no problems living in this space full time or part time. The cost of this tiny house starts at $57,000

Here is a family of 4 that bought one of our Carpathian Models a while back. This video explains really well the unit outside and inside. This is their space but we are a custom builder so you can utilize the space and make it your own – whatever fits your life style best, Tiny Idahomes can build it. This unit is big enough where you can fit a bedroom at the main level, loft and bedroom/living room over the goose neck. You can easily sleep 8 people

Looking forward to 2017!

Everyone here at Tiny Idahomes would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
2016 was a great year for us and we are looking forward to what 2017 will bring.  We would like to thank all of our past, and current, customers for trusting in us to build your tiny home.
There are a lot of building choices out there and we feel honored to be able to build for you!

We build custom RV Tiny Homes.  And when we say custom, that is exactly what we mean!  You don’t have to live in a “cookie cutter” version of what someone else thinks you should live in.  You can live in a design that YOU invision!  From the floor plan all the way to the finished product. We look forward to working with you!

Winter Living in your Tiny Home

Freedom… it’s what we all dream of!  Being out in nature with your Tiny Idahome is a great way to achieve that.  But with nature comes all the elements as well.  Staying warm in your tiny home is always something people worry about especially when the weather outside is “freezing”!  Here are a few ideas of how to keep your tiny home warm and toasty during the frigid winter months.
If you are staying in one place for most of the winter, under skirting would help with keeping your tiny home warm and tanks protected.   There are many forms of under skirting available: plywood, heavy-duty plastic, foam and cement blocks.  I’m sure there are others that I’ve missed.  One thing that may cause a problem is using straw or hay bales.  They attract rodents; get moldy and are hard to remove when they break down.
Holding tanks and lines are always a main concern for people.  Holding tank manufacturers claim that a typical heated and enclosed underbelly will only protect from freezing down to about 14-20 ° F.  Holding tank heaters are available in 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC models and are thermostatically controlled to turn on below 44° F and turn off at 64° F.  Testing on these products have shown that exposed holding tanks were safe to -11°F and enclosed tanks could withstand even colder temperatures.
Some options for your water lines would be to install some heated tape You can also install foam pipe covers to help keep your piping nice and warm as well.
Last but not least, if you are staying in one spot for the winter months that has hookups and you want to protect your fresh water supply, you could install a heated hose.  These are thermostatically controlled that will turn on when the temperatures drop to 45° F and turn off at 57° F.
Living “Tiny” is an adventure.  An adventure worth living!
